BMW’s Run Flat tires the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP
Michelin Pilot sport PS2 ZP (Zero Pressure) are Michelin’s Maximum Performance Summer run-flat tire created for specific high sports sedans and performance cars including the BMW E46. Initially released as the Original Equipment (O.E.) on the BMW E46 3 series as part of the sport package, Pilot Sport PS2 ZP has recently widened its O.E. applications to include Michelin’s very first Corvette fitment for the best performing Supercar in the history of Chevrolet – the 2009 Corvette ZR1. The Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP is designed to combine world class dry road grip, handling and overall cornering ability.
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Construction
The Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP shapes a sophisticated tread rubber mixture incorporated into an asymmetric tread pattern featuring Michelin’s Variable Contact Patch to keep more contact with the road throughout a number of maneuvers. It’s tread pattern includes large outboard shoulder blocks and continuous intermediate and central ribs which provide solid connection to the road for better control whilst cornering, accelerating and braking. Pilot Sport PS2 ZP’s tread pattern also includes wide circumferential channels and lateral grooves to increase water displacement across the whole tire increasing wet road grip. The tire’s internal design incorporates two corded steel belts which are strengthened by optimized, wound polyamide to enhance steering precision and reduce cornering distortion while improving the quality of ride and high-speed durability. Pilot Sport PS2 ZP tires consist of Michelin’s most innovative generation of run-flat technology which includes a durable rayon carcass strengthened by high performance rubber with zero pressure inserts incorporated into the sidewalls.
BMW’s performance package includes the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
BMW offer these tires as the sport package option so you know they are of extremely high quality. I have had more then one set of Michelin Pilot Sports on my BMW and was really impressed with both the traction they provide and the time that they last.
